Every year the Friends of Ireland (Cairde na h’Éireann) hosts an interfaith ecumenical service for the feast of St Patrick.

FOR THE FEAST OF SAINT PATRICK

A part of the St Patricks’ service every year is devoted to the celebration of Irish involvement in the Canberran community. This year’s public speaker will be Professor Patrick McGorry AO.

Professor McGorry AO is an Irish-born Australian psychiatrist known for his
development of the early intervention services for emerging mental disorders
in young people. He is Professor of Youth Mental Health at the University of
Melbourne. He is executive director of Orygen, The National Centre of
Excellence in Youth Mental Health and founding editor of Early Intervention in
Psychiatry published by the Association. He also advocated strongly for the
establishment of the Australian government funded National Youth Mental
Health Foundation, which became headspace. He is a founding board
member of that organisation and played a key role in leading the design,
advocacy and scaling up of headspace services. Patrick is the President of The
Celtic Club in Melbourne.

A light afternoon tea will be provided after the service.
Cash donations for charity will be collected during the service.
