involvement in the association’s activities.

Conor Bradley’s Retirement from the position of Chair
As had been foreshadowed several weeks earlier, the Chair Conor Bradley confirmed
his decision to retire from his position. He took the opportunity to express his gratitude
to the members, the Irish Club, The Irish Embassy and the other local Irish Associations
for their support during his tenure and he then introduced the results of the nominations
for the new Committee.

Nomination Process
The nomination process for the new Committee was conducted in accordance with the requirements set out in the Constitution. Members were duly notified and the outcome of the nominations for the five Committee positions was announced as follows:

Committee Positions

  • Chair: Anne Selvidge
  • Treasurer: Paul Collins
  • Secretary: Áine Barker
  • Member: Conor Bradley
  • Member: Mark Peirce

Conclusion of the Meeting
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the outgoing Chair, Conor Bradley, for his leadership and commitment to CILA and also, his role in sharing his in-depth knowledge of Gaeilge in teaching the ‘Ard Rang’. Acknowledgement and gratitude was also expressed to another retiring member, Colin Boreham for his contribution in various roles on the Committee over the years, and also his commitment to teaching the ‘Bun’ and ‘Mean’ classes. In addition, Colin also produced an invaluable Irish Grammar resource based on the Gaeilge Gan Stro Green and Red Text Books.
The newly elected Committee members were then welcomed.

My Appointment as Chair

In taking up the role of Chair, I recognise that there always has been a spirit of co-operation and optimism among CILA Committee members and I look forward to this continuing. For my part, I will do all that I can to foster good relations with our fellow Irish and other Organisations and to facilitate the continued growth and success of CILA.
