The Canberra Irish Language Association was established in 2015. The association seeks to promote Irish language and culture in the Australian Community. The association also aims to hold Irish language classes and schools in order to see this goal fulfilled.
What we do:
CILA is a small not for profit association based in Canberra that works with community groups across the ACT region and interstate to help promote and improve the learning of Irish language in Australia. Our aim is to spread awareness of the Irish culture and language and encourage people to develop an interest in the language.
Primarily, we offer Irish language classes and support new or individual learners. We have also hosted two immersive weekend language schools. Follow us on Facebook or Google+ for the most up-to-date CILA news.
The Canberra Irish Language Association would like to extend its thanks to the Embassy of Ireland and to the Friends of Ireland Society for the ESP grant , provided to assist with the running of our inaugural Scoil Teanga and classes in 2016. The Embassy of Ireland’s support for community and the Irish Language is appreciated and greatly valued by the Canberran people.
Ba maith le Cumann na Gaeilge Canberra a chuid buíochas a ghabháil leis an Ambasáid na hÉireann agus do Cairde na hÉireann mar gheall ar an deontas ESP bronnta dúinn, chun cabhrú leis ár Scoil Teanga tionscnaimh a reachtáil agus ranganna Gaeilge i 2016 a cuireadh ar siúl. Is mór do Mhuintir na Canberra agus don teanga Gaeilge an tacaíocht seo, ón Ambasáid na hEireann, agus taímíd go léir buíochasach as.
